Welcome to the friendliest Yacht Club on the Great Lakes!
Just a few yards upstream from the Thames River Lighthouse (one of the oldest on the Great Lakes), lies one of the friendliest little yacht clubs on the Great Lakes. The Thames River Yacht Club is in the village of Lighthouse Cove, Ontario, at the mouth of the Thames River near the southeast corner of Lake St. Clair.
Some TRYC History:
TRYC was incorporated on January 7, 1981, by the Province of Ontario as a not-for-profit corporation and operates as a Self-Help, Members Helping Members Club. The club owns the yacht basin and the large grassy area to the west, cottage, picnic shelter, gin pole, washroom and shower building. The membership elects a board of directors annually and all senior members are entitled to vote on a one vote per Member basis.
Each year we manage to complete a number of projects to improve the amenities at the club such adding a deck to the office, large picnic shelter, gazebo at the mouth, very large gin pole deck, improvements to hydro & water facilities, dinghy dock, expanded cradle area, new washroom and shower facilities, WiFi enhancements and reinforcement of our shorelines.
We have club racing every Thursday night with three – six race series’ for experienced and new racers alike. Get a crew or crew for someone else in the club to “learn the ropes” of racing. Gather around the fire pit to tell stories after races and on the weekends nights. We have theme events all season long with potlucks, decorated boats and other social activities suggested and run by the members themselves for the club.
During 2024/5 we replaced our two room washroom and single shower with a beautiful new three room building with individual washroom and shower for each room to accommodate our growing numbers.
We’re happy to say that with current Senior Membership applications, our basin is nearing at capacity. We may have a short waiting list. Please feel free to contact us with your requirements or request a tour of our basin and amenities.
