A Community of Sailors

Located in Lighthouse Cove, Ontario, Canada

The Thames River Yacht Club is situated at the base of the Thames River and Lake St. Clair, on a beautiful canal system in Southwestern Ontario. Connecting two of the Great Lakes (Erie and Huron), Lake St. Clair is big enough to provide challenging conditions for all levels of sailor, yet shallow enough to warm up quickly, enabling world class trophy fishing, swimming, and other water sports.

Established in 1981 as a Not For Profit Corporation, TRYC owns the land the club occupies, and features a protected basin with slips for about 60 sailboats. We have an active racing program and numerous social events each season, and the club boasts an enviable list of amenities for our members and guests.

We are accepting membership applications for the 2026 season NOW!

A Friendly DIY Atmosphere

TRYC is a Members-Helping-Members club. Our group includes sailors of all different levels and skills who are more than willing to contribute advice, help, and resources for boatwork or sailing projects. Members are required to contribute a minimum of 15 hours of volunteer work per season, though many choose to provide much more than that.

The sunsets are incredible, and TRYC is proud to occupy a significant place in the village of Lighthouse Cove. It is a welcoming community which features a restaurant, variety store, and several marinas, and many residents use bikes or golf carts as their primary transportation. We love it here, and so will you.
